Autograph letter signed : Milano, to Romilda Pantaleoni, 1884 Dec. 16.

Ricordi writes to the soprano Romilda Pantaleoni to ask her to take on the role of Anna in Puccini's Le villi for the La Scala performance in Jan. 1885. The letter documents Giulio Ricordi's faith in Puccini's talent and that he, Ricordi, had finally found the publishing firm's successor to Verdi.
